Mound City Meeting

In order to qualify for the award, the city has to get citizen input and the population must reach certain demographic areas. So far there are still 56 surveys that haven't been turned in, but project managers say the ones that have been turned in are looking positive for Mound City landing the grant money. A public hearing is being considered for April and all paperwork to apply for the grant must be turned in by May 1st. During the last board meeting members also decided to install a "Closed to Thru Traffic" sign on Walnut Street in Mound City. Concerns have rose about Walnut concerning the stretch between Paxton and Hill Streets, as a wash out remains there. The city is also reminding residents about the snowmobile ordinance. Recently there have been reports of snowmobiles on the Mound City sidewalks and streets. The city considers the machines ATV's which are illegal to ride on Mound City sidewalks. The board also appointed Denise Newcomb to the board of zoning adjustment and code appeals and re-appointed Terry Vest to the housing authority board.
