Governor In Hopkins

Governor Jay Nixon was in Hopkins Friday morning, speaking to students and administrators. The "A Plus" designation is achieved when schools focus on drop out prevention, student mentoring, college preparation, and other programs. In turn the students volunteering and successfully meeting the standards get the first two years paid for by the state if they go to a Missouri community college or technical school. Governor Nixon praised north Nodaway for its efforts. Nixon says he wants to call for an expansion of the "A Plus" program during his state of the state address Wednesday night.
