Eagle Days

"Eagle Days" are being held, giving park visitors a chance to see thousands of birds. Eagles typically fly into the refuge as the weather turns colder which gives them a chance to prey on other birds that may be sick or injured. Officials at Squaw Creek say the latest population count shows visitors will see many, many more birds than just the eagle. The once-nearly extinct White Trumpeter Swan has also been spotted at the refuge- 96 of them this year. Eagle Days at Squaw Creek near Mound City will be both tomorrow and Sunday with the visitor's center open from 9 to 4 each day and a shuttle bus running from the parking lot just off I-29 at Exit 79
