MARYVILLE, MO (2010-12-08) Updated numbers are in on our region's take during deer hunting season and the Department of Conservation warns it looks like this year's totals will be lower than normal.
The Missouri firearms deer season is made up of 6 periods, depending on the weapon used and age group hunting. Just 2 periods remain, and conservationists say we may fall short from last year's. As of this week in our region, Harrison county leads with the number of deer killed at 3,212 followed by Nodaway at 3,161, Sullivan at 3,137 and Linn county at 3,007. As of this week more than 256,000 head of deer have been harvested in the state of Missouri since the season began.
