That is the St. Joseph Tannery that allegedly supplied by products to northwest Missouri farmers who used it as a soil fertilizer which has been investigated as a possible cause of a rash of brain tumors in the Cameron area. The sludge was used on farmland in Clinton County as well as Buchanan, Andrew, and DeKalb Counties. Tomorrow night members from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Health and Senior Services, and the EPA will be on hand to explain their findings on the Tannery sludge field study and to answer questions from landowners. The meeting will be at the St. Joseph city hall council chamber and doors will open at 5:30 for one on one question and answers with the formal presentation to start at 6:30.
