The number of international students at Northwest Missouri State is on the rise. The 2008 through 2009 school year had the number of international students studying at Northwest increased from 208 to 270 last year. This follows a statewide trend in Missouri, the state reported an 18% increase in that time period. Jeff Foot is the director of International Affairs and English as a Second Language at the University in Maryville. He says helping the students interact with each other is more important thatn enrollment numbers. Currently the highest number of international students at Northwest are from India and China.
