Cameron Tumor Final

Since the Spring of 2008 the Department of Health and Senior Services has been working with other agencies testing a number of sites in and around Cameron. The studies were triggered when at least a dozen citizens were diagnosed with brain tumors in a 7 month span. Between 1996 and 2008, 49 cancerous tumors were reported in the 4 county area around Cameron. Investigators tested air and water sample in Cameron's water supply, neighborhoods, a former industrial plant and discovered no pollutants that were considered dangerous by environmental officials. Now, the final report has been issued one that Department of Health and Senior Services spokeswoman Jacqueline Lapine says the 99 health reports submitted by residents still don't show numbers of cancer victims are higher than normal. Lapine says this is the state's final report on the Cameron brain tumors, and no more testing is planned.
