Andrew County Audit

Auditors found mistakes in the amount of federal grant money the county received. The county says the MO-Kan regional council of governments is responsible for compiling the numbers for federal funding, and the two will work closer to make sure the numbers are accurate. They also found an extra 443 dollars in the Sheriff's main bank account that the incoming Andrew county sheriff couldn't determine where it came from. Auditors recommended the extra money be disposed of according to state law. Investigators also found that even though the state requires a formal budget, Andrew county had no budget for the prosecuting Attorney's bad check fund. The county says there was one, but it was lost in reporting it to the state. And auditors found deficits in 5 of the county's funds including Senior Citizens Services and Sheriff's reserve. County officials say they are making changes in their policies.
