Northwest's recycling efforts to heat campus are now expanding into the city. For years the school has changed its paper waste on campus to pellets using it to heat the buildings. They've also recently started crushing glass into a sand like material. Now trailers are being placed throughout Maryville, encouraging residents to donate paper and glass for the project. Leslie Johnson with the university says it makes sense to ramp up recycling. The three drop off points for paper and glass in Maryville are Sissoneek Park and one behind City Hall. Residents can also drop off their contributions at the pellet plant at the university.
