That is the economic impact to the St. Joseph region the chiefs training camp had, according to a study just released by the Missouri Western Foundation. The figures include both the building of the indorr sports complex where the football team practiced, and the 3 week stay of visitors in town for the training. The study says about 30,000 visitors were from out of town but a total of about 60,000 stayed at hotel, restaurants, and were shopping putting about $600,000 to 1.2 million dollars into the local economy. The report does not include the wages paid to workers at the camp, nor the local spending by players and coaches so the study's author says the impact could be revised even higher than the initial 20 million dollar estimate.
