That's because of a major hazardous material spill that has evacuated a half mile radius just off the interstate. A semi leaked ammonium nitrate at the intersection of Highway 36 and Bob Griffin Road. That's near the truck stop in Cameron. Sergeant Marty Gray is with the Cameron Police Department and says the material is explosive, so they have closed down roads and traffic is jammed up. Gray adds there have been a few accidents as a result of the traffic snarl. Again, Interstate 35 and Highway 36 at Cameron is closed and police say that could continue until at leats 3 this afternoon as they are waiting on a hazmat team from Iowa to come down and start the clean up.
