North Misosuri Biogas

The federal grant is coming to Hampton feedlot in Triplett- South of Marceline. The process uses anaerobic bacteria to break down manure which not only rids the waste but also produces gases mostly methane. That methane can then be used as engine fuel. James Daniels is with Hampton's feedlot and estimates they'll start turning 24,000 gallons of manure each day into biogas. The State Department of Natural Resources says the Hampton feedlot's digester installation and 4 other projects in Missouri getting similar funding could create enough biogas it would offset 120 tons of coal per hour in Missouri.
