That's the decision at last night R-2 school board meeting. Including the district's debt service, the total tax rate for district residents is now just more than $4.93/$100 of assessed valuation. Maryville superintendent Dr. Vicki Miller says state regulations restricted how much the tax levy could rise, but a recent building boom in Maryville also contributed to the final number. In other action the Maryville school board also got an update on the building trades house that's still on the market. The board heard there has been good interest in the last week or so in purchasing the finished home. Members also discovered the average ACT score in Maryville is at a 5 year record high. It's 22.8, which is well above the 21.6 average for Missouri students. This is the 1st day of school in the Maryville R-2 district.
