A proponent of smaller government, Lager told the Senator pushing the filibuster on tax credits for the Ford plant near Kansas City he agreed philosophically not to bow to special interests, but believes small steps are needed.
On the Senate floor Lager added the key will be compromise.
Lager said with the expected (b)illion dollars the state will have to cut from the budget next year, lawmakers will have to look very carefully at both what he calls "entitlement spending" like medicaid and tax credits to businesses and interests.
