Officials there say they've captured several western bean cutworm moths- which actually feed on developing ear kernels of corn.
The infestation has been in Colorado and is spreading eastward through Nebraska and Iowa.
The discovery near Rock Port shows the cutworm moth is also moving south into Missouri.
Researchers at the farm say the few moths they've captured shouldn't alarm growers yet- but just let them know a new pest is potentially on the horizon.
They're asking growers as they scout field and see ear damage at the ear tip, to contact an Extension Agent for further investigation.
