The U-S-D-A has awarded the first round of grants and loans designed to increase the number of rural americans having access to broadband technology.

Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone Company based in Unionville will get more than 10 million dollars to expand broadband coverage.

Ag secretary Tom Vilsack says there are a number of industries this will help.

The U-S-D-A is taking applications now for the second round of Rural Broadband grants.
