Although park visitors have been using the trail for several months, the city and dignitaries celebrated with a ribbon cutting Saturday afternoon.
The paved trail is about 3 miles long, and runs from the R-V Park at Mozingo to "The Point" shelter area overlooking the lake.
The plan is to extend the trail around the lake sometime in the future.
It's already connected to the Maryville city trail system through a partnership trail with Mo-Dot along Highway 136 connecting the lake and the city.
