Chillicothe School Cuts

Facing massive state funding cuts for the program, the R-2 board has unanimously voted to eliminate it.

Three employees will be effected.

Superintendent Doctor Linda Gray-Smith says she and staff are working hard to re-allign the Parents as Teachers program.... to offer similar services in another, more cost effective form next school year.

Smith says if that happens, the three employees without jobs will be able to re-apply to the new version.

The board also approved a measure that will force Chillicothe

R-2 employees to pay higher health insurance deductibles.

Depending on which plan they're enrolled in, school district staffers will pay either 5 hundred or 250 dollars more each year to meet the deductibles.
