MARYVILLE, MO (2010-3-10) Topics as diverse as the Somali Pirate Hostage rescuse to the impact on the opera world by handel's divas were presented yesterday in Maryville.
It was part of the annual "Celebration of Quality" symposium, highlighting the accomplishments of creative works by Northwest Missouri State students. Presentations included academic papers, musical performances, sculpture exhibits, and issues both classic and contemporary. Northwest junior Colin Pettegrew is from St. Joseph and is president of the organization sponsoring the celebration. He says there are a couple of student benefits to the showcase. The keynote to this year's event was the 2010 governor's award for excellence in education winner, Amanda Petefish-Schrag who is also an instructor at the University in Maryville.
