But conservation experts assure us: there's no need to feed they're doing OK. Atchison County conservation agent Eric Abbot says clusters of deer and turkey are becoming more visible and many people think they need to feed. But he says the animals ate all fall to prepare for winter, and says it could actually be harmful to try and help. Abbot adds songbirds are the exception, but warns if you start feeding them keep doing it until spring as they become dependent on that food source.
