"Citizens for a Smoke Free Maryville" had until yesterday to collect 1,671 signatures on a petition to get a smoking ban in all public workplaces in Maryville on the ballot.
Chair person Terri Harr says it was an uphill battle to collect that many names in the given short time frame.... Now they'll have time to get the rest of the signatures for the June 8th ballot.
The same group spearheaded Maryville's efforts several years back, making it the first city in the state to have restaurants go 1 hundred percent smoke free.
