Recycle Bags

Later this week thousands of students will be coming back to Northwest Missouri State, which offers a cost-effective textbook rental program.

The books will be picked up in cloth bags made of recycled materials.

Organizers of the "Reduce your Pawprint" project on campus say they'll hand out more than 5 thousand bags with the textbook pick-ups.

Lezlee Johnson is the project manager and says they hope the green idea will continue to be used.

Funding for the 14 thousand dollar project was provided by the Missouri Regional Solid Waste Management District, Aramark, The Bearcat Bookstore, and an applied research grant.

Using the cloth bags should save about 428 pounds of paper bag waste.
