Missouri Education Cuts

Experts predict 25% of the State's budget will have to be cut in the next 2 years to balance. Maryville representative Mike Thomson says there's no way around it: the 3 billion dollars going to elementary and secondary schools in Missouri will have to be considered for cuts. He says lawmakers may be forced to make cuts in support programs like early childhood, reading, and after-school programs. Thomson says the 37 million dollar career ladder program for teacher pay may also be considered in the State's budget reductions. We'll hear from St. Joseph representative Rob Shaff on his budget concerns during newscasts tomorrow.
