Albany Win

Those awards were presented at the Missouri Community Betterment Conference in Jefferson City. Six "Community of the Year" awards were given out based on population, and five communities in our area received special recognition. Receiving third place in their categories were Cameron and Trenton. A second place award was given to Allendale, and Grant City and Albany both took first place in their categories. Albany economic development director Kathy Morgan says the award truly was a group effort. Morgan adds the projects that contributed to their win were the "Welcome to Albany" program for new residents, a youth fundraiser for the animal shelter, and infrastructure projects like the new water tower. Chuck place of Albany was presented with the MCB adult leadership award. Albany alos took home a second place award for youth group of the year, while Grant City's youth brought home first prize in their category.
