MARYVILLE, MO (2009-09-24) The first case of H1N1 Flu virus has now reached St. Gregory's school in Maryville.
A letter has gone out to parents at the private elementary school alerting them that both the seasonal Flu and H1N1 have been confirmed. School officials frame it as Flu season arriving earlier than normal, and are sending advice to parents on which symptoms to watch out for. They're also encouraging parents to trust their judgment and keep their children at home if they suspect illness. Already the University in Maryville has had multiple cases of H1N1 and has set up a quarantine residence hall for students to self-isolate. H1N1 does not appear at this point to be much more severs than the normal seasonal Flu, but it is targeting kids and young adults more than the elderly.
