Arts Cap Lifted

Until now, lawmakers could only provide the Council 10 million dollars per fiscal year.

Nixon says the bill he signed yesterday will enable the state to fund the arts during tough times.

Nixon says removing the cap for the arts will enable to the state to spend money for the arts without diverting money meant for other needs.

The Governor signed several other bills into law including mandating additional tests for genetic diseases for newborns, and requiring schools to enact health and safety policies to protect kids with food-borne allergies.
