MARYVILLE, MO (2009-06-12) From food pantries to church programs, organizations in our region know poverty is not just a big-city issue.
That's why about 450 people came together this week for Missouri's First Poverty Summit.
Economists, academics, healthcare providers and advocates participated.
Jessica Long is with the Missouri Agency for Community Action and says the summit is only the beginning.
Organizers say poverty is a common problem that leads to others… like poor healthcare and crime.
