That's according to Lieutenant John Hotz. He reports seven
people were killed last year at this time and one hundred
ninety-four injured.
Hotz says the Missouri Highway Patrol will be participating
in a nation-wide operation called C.A.R.E. This stands for
Combined Accident and Reduction Effort. Already existing
traffic and alcohol laws will be enforced through
increased number of officers.
Hotz reminds citizens who will be out on the highway during
the holiday of three life-saving precautions: obey the speed
limit; buckle up; and do everything possible to make the
roads safe for traveling.
