The Board of Regents approve a lease for Carbolytic Materials Company… which will be moving into the 24 million dollar business incubator on campus to continue researching how to extract carbon black material from shredded tires.

The company is also building a manufacturing plant in Maryville's Industrial Park and is expected to start operations in a few months.

Also approved is a lease with Northwest Wind Energy- a spin-off of the company that's built 3 wind farms in Northwest Missouri.

The lease triggers a development period of 7 years in which Northwest Wind Energy expects to build a maximum of 3 wind turbines on the University farmland north of Maryville.

Those turbines would be part of the largest wind farm built to date in Northern Missouri.
