Thats according to the well-established painter who
creates from common objects such as bird nests, baskets, and
seed pods which he collects and assembles.
When asked what message he strives to convey, Coulter
responds he hopes people will see the beauty and
wonder in simple things of today and yesterday.
Coulter was influenced by rural Nemaha County in
Nebraska where he grew up. As a result, he says there is a lot
of fruit in his paintings. Coulter recalls observing the serene
look of a woman at a fruit-stand as a child. Coulter
has never forgotten her expressive face.
Coulter explains his work as being somewhat like folk-art
and has had a life-long interest in art, architecture, antiques,
