MARYVILLE, MO (2009-04-17) A cultural experience opens Monday on the campus of Northwest Missouri State.
For a period of 4 days a group of Monks from tibet will be creating a sand mandala - a large artwork created entirely of grains of sand.
Local organizer Matt Johnson says the work is to bring a message to all who see it.
The sand mandala construction will start Monday morning with an opening ceremony at 10 in the Carnahan Reading Room in the Student Union at Northwest Missouri State.
The public can view the monks in action each day from 10 until 4.
The monks will also present a "Pageant of Tibetan Culture" next Thursday evening at 6 in the Charles Johnson Theater.
