Northwest, MO (2009-05-14) Some natural gas customers in Northern Missouri will see their gas bills go down.
State regulators have approved a move by Empire District Gas Company to reduce rates starting this Friday.
For Empire customers in Chillicothe, Trenton, and Marceline this means a decrease of about 14 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas.
Maryville, Rockport, and Tarkio customers will see their gas bills also cut by 14 cents per unit.
The changes come on estimated drop in natural gas for the summer season- that's now through October.
About 65 to 75 percent of a customer's natural gas bill reflects the cost of that wholesale price.
