Savannah City Council
Both were items discussed at this week's Savannah city council meeting. Crane construction has begun renovations on the Clasbey Community Center in Savannah where the city council meetings are held and in the process, discovered another room behind one of the restrooms that had been forgotten about. A door has been installed to create a storage area. Construction crews also say it will make it easier to access the plumbing. The city has also received the necessary documents to annex a tract of just more than 30 acres into the city limits. Known as the "Ryan Trust", a public hearing on the annexation has been scheduled for February 17th. Council members also discussed changing an ordinance regarding their pay and making it optional. This is after a candidate running for a council seat was told by their employer they would have to waive their city council salary if elected. Upon advice from the city Attorney, the Savannah council decided to leave the ordinance alone for now.. And if that candidate was elected the waiver discussion could happen in the future.
