The City Manager says, though, it's for a good cause.

Residents approved a sales tax increase for the ambulance district last year- and now it's in effect as of January first.

City manager Michael Fisher says the extra half-cent funds one of the more expensive citizen services.

The increased ambulance tax now puts the city's sales tax rate at 8.425 percent.
