Albany, MO (2009-12-18) A worker is recovering after falling about 70 feet at an Albany construction site.
The City Manager confirms the worker remains in the hospital after the accident on Monday.
He says a sub-contracting company was working on tearing down Albany's old water tower when a piece fell.
The crane at the scene caught it but a worker in his late 40's fell and was saved because of his safety harness.
His body slammed up against the tower however, causing severe head injuries and knocking him unconscious.
It took the City of Albany's Ladder truck to rescue him, and he was airlifted to Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph.
His coworkers at Steel Smith- out of North East Missouri- say it will be some time before the climber is fully recovered.
