Several court systems in our listening area are being recognized for perfection by the Missouri Supreme court.
The special accolades are for their "extraordinary success" in handling child abuse and neglect cases in a timely fashion.
Cases involve children being removed from their homes because of suspected criminal activity, and state officials say it's critical hearings are held soon to put them back into a stable environment.
Receiving the honor is the 4th judicial circuit, which includes Nodaway, Atchison, Gentry, Holt and Worth counties, which held one hundred percent of the child-related cases in a timely fashion.
Also being honored is the 8th circuit consisting of carroll and ray counties.
Being recognized for holding 95 percent of their cases within time are the 3rd judicial circuit, which is Grundy, Harrison, Mercer and Putnam counties and the 5th, 9th, and 43rd judicial circuits- all of which cover our northwest and north-central missouri listening area.
