Scholarships

KXCV/KRNW offers scholarships to its current announcers. Funding sources are friends and alumni. Some of the awards are based upon achievement and some have a work component.

Cathran Cushman Scholarship
Scott Harvey, Shenandoah, IA

This scholarship honors KXCV's first general manager. It has been awarded since 1976.

Kevin O'Reilly Award for News/Feature Production
Nicole Brown, Bellevue, NE

Kevin O'Reilly, a Northwest alumnus and KXCV announcer, has permanently endowed this award.

Rollie Stadlman & Sharon Bonnett Scholarship for Leadership and Talent
Joe Ramsey, Overland Park, KS

This award funded by KXCV alumni honors Rollie Stadlman, a former station manager and the person who signed KXCV on the air in 1971 and former station manager, Sharon Bonnett who was instrumental in building KRNW. It was first awarded to Kirk Wayman, current KXCV/KRNW News Director, in 1995.

John McGuire Award for Feature Production
Scott Harvey, Shenandoah, IA

This award is funded by John McGuire and his family. McGuire was KXCV/KRNW news director for 13 years.

Dustin McCurdy Memorial Scholarship
Bryan Clark, New Market, IA

This scholarship is provided by friends and family of Dustin McCurdy who died during his senior year at Northwest.
